The Morning Skate for Tuesday, December 15th

Bullet points for what you missed while having nightmares of someone finding 22 million of your old emails...
  • Habs lose. It was sort of exciting, in that "FUCK, they scored again, YAY, we bounced back" kind of way. But this team has a penalty problem, and it's starting to show. On a good note, Pleks-Tits-Squid is fantastic. On a bad note, no one else can seem to score. Meh;
  • To make things worse, the Leafs are nipping at our heels in the standings after they beat the Sens;
  • Flyers beat the Bs in the Winter Classic preview;
  • Thrash beat the Rangers in the skills competition, after Johan Hedberg had made 48 saves in regulation;
  • Couple of hat tricks last night - Steve Sullivan for the Preds and Nathan Horton for the Panthers.
CRTC something something. Is this essay done yet?

In his press conference JM mentioned that he is playing the 3rd periods with only 11 forwards.

I presume he is referring to BGL.

So why does he play him? Why not bring White back? At least he and Pyatt can take a shift without causing too much damage.

@Boob, I thought he was only playing 3 forwards? PTS.

Can we clone Squid? Maybe put some of Gio's DNA in there for a couple extra inches? In height, I know how everyone thinks in here.

I hope the winter classic goes all Day After Tomorrow (shitty movie) COLD half way throught the 1st and freezes the Goon squad's. And Betman, cause he's a douche.
Fuck the Leafs.

WV: after re-reading this I realize I am a bit bati z

Your CRTC essay makes me think of something that I've been toying with, and I'm not sure if you'd need a license or what. But full enough of comic value that someone should be interested.

When I was in New Zealand as a teenager, I had the good fortune of timing my visit with the World Cup of Rugby. The college station there had what they called "alternative commentary" for the games: obscenity- and innuendo-laced play-by-play and colour commentary.

Is this legal to do here? Maybe not on the local radio station, but, uh, going back to your essay, legal to broadcast over the internetz? In English, from Quebec?

@Vitro

I love it! If you stream a broadcast and add the commentary yourself, I don't see how it could be illegal...

Upon reflection...you could end up being that annoying guy you sit next to in a pub who's opinion on every play is completely fucked - obviously you know nothing about the game - Just go home and jiss all over your A-Rod Baseball card collection!...

...eerrr...so I think I'd give it a miss if I were you...

Nah. The Flyers grabbed the great ex-Hab goalie, who never lost a game whilst donning the bleu-blanc-rouge, Michael Leighton. Mr. Waiver himself! Geez this guy gets around more than Tiger Woods! Not a terrible goalie and I remember him from an interview - a real class act. Anyway no Jaro for the Phucking Phlyers.

I'd like to know if I was the only one last night who heard Michel Bergeron say that if someone offered JVR for Halak, he'd hang up the phone because he's more interested in the francophone players?

Or was I just imagining what he was thinking?
