Habs are delicious in milk

lap dance to friend of FHF ncbeets for the photo

In lieu of a review of a game which none of the FHF seem to have seen, we present you this photo of the miracle Oreo. Just like those people who find Jesus in grilled cheese sandwiches, we can find Habs logos everywhere.

We're definitely making the playoffs now. All praise to the God of Creamy Filling.

Anyone worried about the Oilers game already? Habs seem to play to the level of their opponents and last time the team had a day off as a reward for good play, they stunk up the joint down in Florida.

shouldn't be a problem. Last night didn't look like a fluke, it looked solid. They aren't on the road, so a little less temptation to have an extra drink before the afternoon nap.

Chester said...

Yes I agree, the team looked solid. Don't wanna be a hoper at this late stage in the season but they looked good. Things seemed to be clicking.

Sure, gone for an hour, "nah nothing going on today" and, HELLO!. Some Photoshop whore has stepped in. This will make my upcoming gyne exam and pap test all the more painful....and I want an Oreo.

@GG - not Photoshopped. That cookie is real. Sitting on my desk as we speak. Don't speak ill of the miracle Oreo!

I'm not worried about the Oilers.

I'm worried about the Caps in round one of the playoffs.

In fact I'm not even worried about the Caps in round one of the playoffs.

I'm worried about next year.

Jaybird said...

Why worried about next year? PK is our new saviour. The black Jesus. As much as I hated Gomez he is now officially earning half his salary....Cammaleri is one of the top 15-20 forwards in the NHL and Gionta no slouch either. If we get the Mekanec signed we should have the offense I'm sure AK46 will return to form when Squid gets back.

Mara will be gona as will Bergeron. Hopefully someone like Louis Leblanc turns into a sniper and our dfense plays to its capabilites.

The only problem I see is goaltending. How much do we have to spend to keep both guys? I'd still hate to see Price go and be a star in five years.

Jaybird said...

Oh I forget about CHicken. Thank the lord for RFA status. Phew. Definitely have to set aside 2.5-3 mill for him.

Max gets four games for his hit on Nichol and Matt Cooke gets none for hit shoulder to head hit of Marc Savard?

As much as I hate the Bruins, I'm looking forward to one of their players killing Matt Cooke next time they play.

Forgive me father for i have sinned. I shoult not bet against thee anymore.

Well well, Cooke gets 0 games suspention...and ML gets 4 games. Campbell sure does know what he is doing.

@b

you provoked consternation yesterday re:loyalties - have you looked at Thur? TB/Tor & Bos/Phi

What's a cult member to think??

p.s. beware the moribund Oilers.

Matt Cooke has done this stuff before. According to Wikipedia, he was suspended for two games on January 27, 2009 for a head shot to Carolina forward Scott Walker on January 20, 2009. In that incident he got two minutes for interference. On the Savard hit, he should have gotten 2 for interference. The pass had been picked up when the hit was delivered. There is not an exception for a belief the guy had legal possession of the puck.

@Jaybird - As much as I hated Gomez he is now officially earning half his salary : That he his, and maybe even a bit more. It's a beautiful thing to see the GMC line cycling the puck in the o-zone, especially given that now and then it goes into the (other team's) net. Last night I had a sacrilegious thought - Mex was better than SuperPlex. (Even before SuperPlex was crunched, he looked a bit tired - can't blame him after the road trip, but Mex and Gio and Chicken were flying.)

Finally, even without Squid, I think we're starting to see what B-b G--n-y [may his name be praised!] was thinking we would get from his 6 days of labor last summer. Too bad it's not gonna quite be enough for the Pens and the Devils, but it's nice to see when it works.

For next year, much as I like PK, I think we need for the PP a d-man with a big shot who doesn't fall on his ass at the most inopportune moments. Too bad we won't be able to afford one with Hammer and Spock still on the payroll. I love MAB's shot, but his defensive deficiencies make him second best. Any Shea Webbers on the horizon?

@gg - that sounds better than a prostate exam.

Once a live human being has come out of there, everything else is a piece of cake.

Le Douze said...

@gg - I'd never thought of that as a way to prepare for a prostate exam, so thanks for the tip! But I might start with something a tad smaller.

The league is a joke.

Colin Campbell needs to be fired.

When dealing with suspensions, it is not the player or even the infraction that matters. It is the team. Those south of the Mason Dixon line are exempt as are any team with a player named Crosby or Ovechkin. Unless it's absolutely grotesque...on the third incident. This isn't news, people. This is Bettman's NHL. I think we've all been aware of this since the Hurricanes gave Koivu impromtu eye surgery at centre ice in the first round a few years back (it's too early for me to remember the exact year).

hfotwc said...

@ bill 101, i taught your repulsion of Pronger and the Flyers were beyond any rational

Orangeman said...

"I know it's not something that Boston fans, or hockey fans would like to hear," said Campbell. "They want justice."

So basically the idiot just admitted that this is unjust and that he had no intention of serving justice. And now some Boston guy will get suspended for doing something stupid to bring that justice next time these guys meet. Why have police when you can give everyone a gun, right Campbell? You fucking moron.

@Jaybird and @Le Douze,
Next year the cap is supposedly not changing. With raises presumably going to UFA's Mekanec and DarCHe, and RFA's Price, SK74, CHicken and maybe even Laps, there won't be much room to keep all the rest. Not only will UFA's MAB and Mara be gone, but Gill will probably be traded too. Too much blueline talent in Hamilton.

I'm guessing either Gomer or the Hammer will have to go too. Neither is worth their cap hit, and that space is needed. Maybe some sort of package deal involving Halak to dump one or the other.

Jaybird said...

@ Le12-

Great assessment except Subban does possess a hard shot. He just might be next in line in the equation Souray > Streit > Bergeron > SubbANswer.

@ kaz -

As great as MAB has been for us he is a one trick pony. Hard shot lacking defensive skill set + size. Useless on forward. I won't Kovacry when he leaves. Pedro and Hammer are impossible to move due to salaries in my opinion...

I seriously cannot believe what Campbell said regarding the no-suspension on Cooke. I also cannot believe what he said about repeat offenders. The man is either very drunk, suffering from sun stroke (they are in Florida eh), or he's just an idiot. Cooke was suspended for pretty much hitting Anisimov the same way earlier this year! (IN THE SAME SPOT ON THE ICE! Though he did get a penalty there, but that's only 'cause the ref saw it). Just lucky the kid wasn't seriously injured...

And before someone says Savard should have kept his head up, his head was up looking in the direction he was going/shooting. Cooke came and blindsided him.

cambell is buttman personnal ass licker

campbell loves him the cherry/milbury hockey. Hockey can be a beautiful game/sport. The NHL makes it real ugly.

@Jay - good point on PK's PP cannon - I guess I have seen him take a coupla good ones, but frankly his absolutely brilliant moves wiped that clear from my mind. I haven't had as much chance to watch him yet as I hope to next year. I think that the most impressive thing he has done so far this year with the 'dogs has been a supernatural +/-. (+37 at the moment, tied for 2nd in the AHL). So maybe we don't need the pure cannon, if we have a "puck moving defenceman" who can also shoot.

@kaz - I'm not convinced it will be so easy to move those guys with inflated salaries and not-so-inflated stats. I know we're very short on cap, so the question about cannons was kind of rhetorical. I was more wondering who we could get for cheap with a slap shot and a good +/-. More likely Yannick Weber than Shea Webber. Swiss Miss 2.0 does have a good slap shot, not sure that the rest is so comparable - for a pure shooter, I'd rather someone with some size (another department where MAB is conspicuously short). This is another area where PK has impressed me - he's a surprisingly big dude for someone so fast, and not at all afraid to lay on the body where appropriate.

beautiful game as seen in the NHL 2 weeks brake.

I can't believe how much of a cocksucking incompetent Crampbell is over and over and over again.

@moeman: Nice story about the Sedins.

Devils did us a huge favour tonight, dismantling the Rangers 6-3. You could say that after all these years of being owned by Brodeur, he sort of owes his hometown a couple.

@moeman That sounds great! I guess I'll have to get the "special" edition!

@ moeman The super deluxe edition with the DVD and the vinyl will sell for 102.99. Not many albums are worth it but Exile, yes!

PK doesn't play the point on the PP as much as he did with Belleville, actually. Boucher usually puts him in the center slot (also where he put him in the WJC). Unlike Martin, Boucher uses a forward up there with an absolute bomb LIKE BEN MAXWELL AND SERGEI KOSTITSYN. Of course according to flow (and depending who's on the roster), the positions switch around, but that's how he usually sets it up.

Greg Stewart is loaned (assigned?) to the Wolves :( I'm sure the Bulldogs had plenty of D, dunno why they did this... Stewie was the only guy to score in the last playoff game for the Bulldogs last season...
