The Morning Skate is speechless for Monday, March 8th

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of winning an Oscar...
Maybe watching the highlights will give us our speech back.

I watched the game on fast forward last night and after 20 it was like, TFS has put us in a big hole and we're gonna come back from that against Getzlaf and Perry and Hiller etc? Yeah, right. And at 18:00 into the third period it was the same. So an inspiring late finish, kudos to the boys.

Still not much hope of a playoff spot, but if they keep winning and the other guys, not so much, maybe there's a chance of seing some playoff time. If it comes down to it, I'd rather see Washington than NJ or Pitt - I think we have more of a shot against them, Ovie and all.

And WTF is this about the Tenderizer a 20 goal scorer? What drugs do they have in Minnie that we don't have at home?

So is there a goalie debate to be had here then...?

Gotta admit. This was the first time I've given up on the Habs, after the 3 goal defecit. Mrs LD wanted to watch the Oscars, so I said WTF. Kept checking the game (and the Brier) during commercials and the more mundane awards. I checked with 3 minutes left and it was 3-1, still had no hope. But then I tuned in just in time to see Markov tie it up! I told L Dudette that I was going to finish watching the game (she went to bed). WTF is up with Perry? What an a-hole! He didn't deserve to be on the gold medal team.

One final word about Gui, and then we should speak of him no more. He would never have been that player here.
He moved to Minny, they tore the "ENTITLED - KISS HERE" tag off his francophone ass and VOILA! He CAN actually play hockey. Perhaps the same would work for Lapierre. Hopefully he's shipped out in the offseason. /Gui

Re the Cooke hit:

I think Savard is a whiny, chickenshit baby, but that hit by Cooke was absolutely terrible. Unbelievably dirty.

@10: agreed on both accounts. Did you see Cooke being interviewed in the dressing room: "I thought it was a clean shoulder on shoulder hit." Yeah, right. Oh well, our last game against the B's is on Saturday. Savvy can return on Sunday.

@Habsfan10: That was an instant replay of the Richards on Booth hit. A vulnerable player on the follow through gets blindsided by an asshole who won't let up.

@LDude: I don't think you have to worry about playing Savard anytime soon.

This team is driving me crazy. Somehow, I have this image in my head of Bob Gainey (in the background) in his lab coat/mad scientist apparel still mixing players/chemicals for his wacky science experiment that McSplooge was talking about last October.

Pierre Gauthier:"Bob! Enough already! No more experimenting, the project is over!
