Some Pre-Game 2 Yada Yada and Open Thread

I've got a real problem people. Apparently the number of free photos of non-nude half decent-looking strippers on the Web is limited to about 82. Until I find a new source, sorry for the posting of non-nude half decent-looking random women like the one here.

You know it struck me at the beginning of the playoffs that doing a traditional form preview for each playoff game against the same team for 4-7 games seems a bit like a waste of time (or a lot of work for my lazy ass). So until we find a new format, I'm just gonna ramble for a bit. We gotta talk about the game somewhere! I mean, I think you know the game is at 7 at the Bell Centre, so I don't need to tell you. You're all hockey fans, so you know the Habs have won 12 in a row overall against the B's. And you saw Game 1, so I don't need to tell you either that Slowinski and TFS continued their good play from the end of the year, and there were Tits everywhere. I'd like to see the Habs PP score a couple tonight - that was the only real disappointment from Game 1. I'm looking for some sort of line up notes, but I don't see or hear anything. I've got idiot rambling callers on Team 990 instead of you know, some real information. Don't expect many line up changes anyway. I think this series will start to get real chippy starting in the second period tonight. I think the stupid topic of the Olé song has generated some of the most intelligent discussion we've had around here. Keep it going in the comments. Go hockey.

one other thought i wanted to mention that's worth discussing:

"white towels in Bell Centre - stupid idea, or stupidest idea?"

Anonymous said...

I associate white towels with playoff games in Pacific Coliseum (they started it way back whenever). I don't think Habs fans want to hook themselves up to Canucks playoff mojo.

Young HF29 said...

@msevigny - exactly. playoff gizmos are so Western conference. and theyre back tonight. blech

Young HF29 said...

man we're being outplayed

Did the Habs forget to take the blade guards off their skates?

Young HF29 said...

sonia they seem to have forgot alot of things

Look! Offence!

Well, better eighteen minutes into the period than never.

Young HF29 said...

woo! but boy we don't deserve to be up

Anonymous said...

Okay! Habs remembered they have a game to play!

But they're probably wondering why the period was only a minute & a half...

Loser Domi said...

about the towels--maybe the Habs fans could wave pants.

Young HF29 said...

alright guys let's try to double your effort. so that would be 4 minutes of good hockey this period

That Korvalev guy from Coach's Corner was a real scumbag. I'm glad we don't have a classless jerk like that on our team.

Young HF29 said...

w00t! what work by Kovy

Young HF29 said...

@msevigny - i cant even watch Coach's Corner anymore. what did he say about him?

Anonymous said...

I heart Kovy. I heart him a lot.

Anonymous said...

@HF29: I can't tell what the context was supposed to be, but Grapes decided to air some mid-90s footage of Kovy with the Rangers, and one of the most blatant dives ever, I guess to prove that Kovy had no class compared to Don's beautiful boy Bobby Orr (he was standing in front of a giant picture of Orr earlier).

Then Ron aired footage of Coach's Corner from the same period, with Don yelling repeatedly about someone named "Korvaliev" and how he's everything that's wrong with the game. It was definitely five minutes of television.

I fart at you, Don Cherry. I fart at you a lot.

RDS for the win

TFS cannot be shaken. it's a sight to see

I think Boston made some adjustments between games that helped them in the first, and now Montreal's adjusted themselves. They're starting to assert themselves with their speed again and Boston can't really keep up.

k im starting to worry about the PP

Bethany said...

UGH!!! I am getting Versus feed and not HNIC, I miss Kelly Hrudey!!

Anonymous said...

A bit better this period, but some guys are playing tentatively (esp. Markov) and that worries me. PP still scoreless, but getting better.

Young HF29 said...

Bethany, whoever does play by play for Vs. is better than Bob Cole. be happy

Young HF29 said...

well we deserved to get scored on eventually. i need a drink

Young HF29 said...

forget the drink, im back to the meth

could anyone tell if carbo was glaring at the ref after that or at kovalev?

Anonymous said...

Oh arse....

Young HF29 said...

@noda - couldn't tell. but man he looked pissed

k 2 man advantage. fuck we need to break the PP ice

Anonymous said...

5-3 for 20 seconds. C'mon boys....

Young HF29 said...

well that was a disaster

The powerplay has been poor all night. Here's another one (a 4:00 job!) to close out the third, can they put some pressure on Thomas in a PP situation?

The Habs had better score here, I hate overtime when Montreal are involved. Hate hate hate.

Young HF29 said...

oh god OT. kill me

Anonymous said...

That's three shots off the post tonight. I have a bad feeling about OT. :-/

Anonymous said...

Kovalev has been terrible tonight. that penalty he took was uber stupid.........

If he doesn't score the winner, or if the Habs lose I question whether or not he should have the c next game.

Anonymous said...

@matt: Kovy was great on Kostitsyn's goal but apart from that, I agree that he has not had his finest outing. He's been really slow on the PP, for one.

It's nearly 3:00 AM here. I must slumber. End it quick, Habs.

I miss my boy Saku.

Anonymous said...

yeah, on the one goal he was good, but i have not seen anything else impressive. and that penalty (when they were already down one man) was just aweful!!

he should be ashamed of himself.

Young HF29 said...

@sonia - Saku is sorely missed by everyone tonight

Anonymous said...

That penalty was dreadful and it wasn't something a captain should do, it was cheap.

The refs should have called a penalty on the play that Kovy was brought down on just before that.

As an aside, Brian Engloms hair is terrible.

Anonymous said...

pass the meth

Anonymous said...

That'll teach Reich for being loyal to the Kaiser.

Young HF29 said...

why is Smolinski on every power play? on 5 on 3???

Young HF29 said...

FINALLY

Anonymous said...

anyone else just a little more scared about this series after tonight?

Young HF29 said...

@noda - ALOT more. but you know me

Anonymous said...

THAT is what a captain should do when he has made some bad decisions through a game.

Thank Christ for that.

Anonymous said...

Nice, Kovy got the winner. Good for him, hopefully he keeps his head in the game a bit more next game.
Go Habs, Go Hockey!

Anonymous said...

I wonder what bright, bright NHL mind scheduled 2 games between these 2 teams on 2 consecutive nights in 2 different cities? Oh well, the Habs should be well rested for tomorrow, since they barely played tonight.

...but they still got all 3 stars LOL!

Anonymous said...

@ noda: I'm definitely more worried about it than I was before but not overly so. I have faith in this team, far more than the faith I had in the 05-06 playoff squad. If they put in such a listless performance in Boston, they will be coming back to Montreal with a tied series.

Anonymous said...

Beautiful,
Don Cherry is mad....Love it!!!

Anonymous said...

CBC had Kovy as the first star. huh?

1. do CBC and RDS have the same 3 stars?

2. after that piss poor performance how can you give him the 1st star? even with the game winning goal! remember we wouldn't have been down 2 men in the third for them to tie it up if it wasn't for his stupid slash and he was not it brilliant self for about 90% of the game. in fact he was garbage.

Anonymous said...

agreed noda.

we need him to be much much better next game.

moeman said...

Glad to see cherry all ticked, hope he croaks on air.

RDS 3 Stars = 3rd. 27, 2nd. 74 1st 31

cbc 3 Stars = 3rd. 74, 2nd. 31 1st 27

The sooner Captain K comes back, the better.

PS: Mickey Ribs strikes again! Could Dallas really eliminate Anaheim?

Tomorrow's game is going to be tough. The Bruins have found their game and between the two teams, it's the Habs who have to make some adjustments. And with less than 24 hours between games, well...

Anonymous said...

re: sonia

The Bruins played as well as they have played against us all year...and they still didn't win.

I don't know what type of adjustments Boston could make. Their only hope is to play as well as they did tonight with the same strategy and cross their fingers that the Habs play poorly; which, as we've seen this year generally doesn't happen in consecutive games.

Price is very good. The Bruins are the Habs' bitches. Tonight was just a teaser to make them think they had a sliver of a chance. You saw it in Thomas's eyes in the post-game interview - they will be lucky to win even one game in this series. Same for Julien - he was dissing the refs, which is a last-ditch bitch on his part.

While the Habs were indeed outplayed at times, they spent the whole game just missing a lot of good chances. And on that second goal, I'm sorry, but Kovi had me at his second time around the back of the goal. A man vs. itty bitty virgin boys. Completely. Nice that Sergei potted the goal with the Bruins' heads spinning to the point of nausea. One thing Julien knows: he doesn't have horses in that calibre. Y a juste a s'montrer au Boston, t'sais?
