I hate it when people rip on Michigan weather and complain that it is cold and gray in November, or something. Come in early fall when the leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp. or in the summer when you can smell the fresh air in the breeze off the lakes. The winters can be rough, but I love the changing seasons.

I still think that we're going to make the playoffs. I just can't see us getting out of the first round without Markov, especially if we play Boston. They have way too many scorers for us to ice Janik, O'Byrne, and Breezer, and the key to beating them is a strong PP and speed... for both of which you need a good passing defenseman or two.

Rips - the D tried REALLY hard to fill markov's shoes, but they just didn't have his timing. Hamr made a valiant effort, but the puck kept hopping his stick at the blue line, or he was just a split second off when it came time to pinch in for a goal.
That's the kind of shit that Markov did for us.
As a result, it was tough for the PP to get going, because we couldn't keep the puck inside their zone for a consistent amount of pressure. Which sucks.
Seriously, though - tonight was a team effort and I was pleased to see that. But I reiterate the: We're so fucked from in between the 1st and 2nd periods. We miss Markov's intangibles, almost as much as his scoring touch.
Believe it or not, the best D-man out there to take his place was Gorges. He was the only one who had decent timing.
Honorable mention goes to... *Shudder* Breezer.
O'B should have his ass shipped back to Steeltown, and we should call up Weber instead. That guy's game is eerily similar to Markov's (albeit the execution is still a little rough).
