Oh Yeah I Did: Habs 4, Hawks 1

29 shots. 28 saves. .966 Save percentage.

I love to say "I told you so", so I'll say it again:

Now go enjoy your day as a proud Habs Fan secure in the knowledge that your goaltending is taken care of until Patrick Roy's grandkids are old enough to start beating people up.

Who was in doubt?

A 21 year old is sure to have ups and downs. We have a great goaltending coach in Melanson and an amazing backup in Halak who deserves praise for pushing Price to get back in form.

Its nervous time for everyone still though and we have to pass the Rangers and hopefully Penguins to get those skanky slutty Panthers of our back!

Anyone else a little worried Panger just laid a monster jinx on TFS? Just me? Okay.

Young HF29 said...

@10 - now that you mention it, im totally freaking out. damn you Panger!!!

mr. gillis said...

One good shootout and one good game and its suddenly i told you so? I'm on your side for the fact that nobody should worry about Carey and that he'll be back, but I don't think that there is enough evidence to prove that the people that did doubt him are wrong just yet.

PS. I heard on CJAD last night that Breezeby is the Habs' Masterton nominee. Wow, the habs have a lame team.

James said...

Well gillis I'd say that NOT having a worthy Masterton nominee in your team should be considered a good thing.
But nominating Breeze? That I don't get. We could always just have passed up...

Habsfan10 said...

Breezer's comeback from Panger's trunk was pretty impressive. Panger's Italian ... you don't just pop open an Italian's trunk and walk away, you've gotta work at it.

To Timmins' defense, Omark is 5'7, 170lbs... maybe someone told him to stop drafting very talented runty shrimps?

"Where were you on this one Timmins lol? "

I'm thinking Minnesota.

honestly...i love this blog! i really do...i love the witty the comments and intelligent humour...but the thing that truely proves the majority of people commenting on this blog and the creators of this blog prove...IS THAT WE ARE ALL THE BIGGEST BANGWAGON JUMPERS EVER! 2 weeks ago when the team was struggling to even make the playoffs there was nothing but ranting and hatred about how the habs suck and goaltending is garbage and blah blah blah...but now that they're winning oh everything is soo great! it's amazing how quickly everybody turns their back on this team, and after a couple wins we can be proud again? GIVE ME A BREAK! AND STICK BY YOUR TEAM...atleast the dumbass leaf fans will stick by thier shitty team no matter how shit they play...always have faith always love...i just find it amazing how quickly in the eyes of supposed fans how they turn from goats to heroes

mr. gillis said...

@HF10: Possibly the best comeback story in NHL history

@HR33: But the habs really do suck. There just really isn't any reason to point it out when they are playing well. I'm not going to talk shit about a certain francophone member of the habs' defense corps if he's playing well. Uhh, scratch that. Only him, but I wouldn't point out the faults in the habs line-up when they're playing well. Whats the point of that? Same goes for when they're playing like shit. I'm not going to point out the good things when things arent going well. Sure I freaked out the other day when they played well but only came out with the single point, but that was only because I was so pissed at the shootout and I didn't know who else to get mad at.

"atleast the dumbass leaf fans will stick by thier shitty team no matter how shit they play"

Ouch! That honestly hurt. Camparing us to leafs fans and saying we are worse is very, very, very harsh. You don't think leaf fans talk shit about their players? And obviously we are sticking with the team if we are still reading, thinking and writing about the habs everyday.

"i just find it amazing how quickly in the eyes of supposed fans how they turn from goats to heroes"

It's not just in our eyes... they actually have in the past few games. Once again, we are not here to praise them when they are playing badly, just like we are not here to talk shit about them when they are playing well (except for Brisebois of course)

PS. my word is "thesti". Close but no cigar

moeman said...

@HR33, being compared to the leaf fan is a not-so-subtle yet cruel April Fools Day joke.

"And obviously we are sticking with the team if we are still reading, thinking and writing about the habs everyday."

Good point, gillis.

Real bandwagon jumpers will not watch every minute of every game even when the team sucks. Real bandwagon jumpers will not continue thinking and caring about their team during a lengthy, collapse-like slump. The only reason we rant and hate on our team is because we care about them. Real bandwagon jumpers only pretend to care about their team when they're winning.

And, to reiterate what gillis said, we still think (and know) the Habs suck and we still think (and know) they won't make it very far in the playoffs barring some unforeseen miracles. But damn it, let us have our moments of happiness and disillusion in a season full of controversy and disappointment. Almost all Habs fans are aware that their bipolar behaviour is ironic and unreasonable, but we're Habs fans, and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters.

Can I get an Amen?
(with regards to my above comment: "but we're Habs fans, and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters.")

Sorry, I just love saying that...

@ Jaybird
Those were some sick goals, and he plays big for his size (sticks his ass out à la Koivu). Then again, try any of those moves in the NHL, especially the Western conference, and you'll spend most of your time staring at the arena's ceiling.

Regarding "bandwagonism" - there's also something to be said for realism. The Habs did suck for most of the season. And being a Hab doesn't give you a divine right to adoration (see: Ribeiro, Mike). When the Habs play well, we're proud of them. When the Habs suck donkey balls, we hope they get better.

And just because we call out Price's play doesn't mean we don't still love him. When Roy was here, it was no different - you'd swear at him for wandering from his net, but you knew he was the only guy you would want between the pipes.

And of all the Habs blogs/sites, I'd say this is one of the more supportive ones, so I dunno why HR33 feels the need to insult us. If anyone deserves that rant, it's the morons over at HI/O who want Price traded every time he lets in more than 1 goal a game.

(I'm convinced that the dumber breed of Habs fans don't come here because sarcasm confuses them)

Word verification: "tomity". As in "He displayed great tomity in sticking up for a teammate and fighting someone twice his size, and getting beat down. Again."

kevincrumbs said...

@HR_33: If there's one thing I hate, it's this ridiculous attitude that all fans need to be supportive and happy at all times. FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

Everyone here puts in a ton of effort and time into supporting the Habs and when they suck, we will make sure to note that they suck. This year has been really frustrating because they weren't supposed to suck (for the first time in ages) and so when they suck when they're not supposed to, it makes me really mad and unhappy.

Come on, even if they win the cup (HAHAHAHA!), I will still look back really bitterly at the Western road trip as some of the worst Canadiens hockey I've ever seen, period.

mr. gillis said...

I just read the comment again and caught this: "IS THAT WE ARE ALL THE BIGGEST BANGWAGON JUMPERS EVER!"

He wasn't calling us bandwagon jumpers but BANGwagon jumpers. I might be a bangwagon jumper. Whats a bangwagon? A wagon where people bang? Just brainstormin'

So we can lay off him now, since he wasnt actually calling us bandwagon jumpers. Unless bangwagon jumpers is bad thing. I'll google it.

PS. my word is stsnespa. Its french: Esti, n'est ce pas?

Young HF29 said...

welcome HR33! glad you like the blog

now, all aboard the bangwagon! it's from the same porn producers who brought us Bang Bus

mr. gillis said...

So I googled "bangwagon" but I only found "band-bang-wagon" in the urban dictionary.

It means: A girl or guy who sleeps with all members of a band.

There are girl bands right? Like the pussycat dolls. (is that considered a band) So yeah sure, i'll become a bandbangwagon anyday

kevincrumbs said...

@HF29: Bangwagon makes me think of an orgy on an Oregon Trail type covered wagon. Is retro porn in yet?

i think you need to keep posting pics of Marissa Miller. It seems to be the only way.

mr. gillis said...

@Anon: Agreed. Dont fuck with a streak 29

South Shore Hab said...

Best. Streak. Ever. =D

Is Lang driving the Bangwagon?

The Habs have sucked for most of the season but you can't ignore the amount of injuries. That combined with Carbo's lack of experience is what did them in. What really bothers me is if people really and truly think that the Koivu's and Kovy's of the world just stop caring and don't give a crap. That's just bullshit, these guys are proud, professional and competative. The rush to judgement on players really pisses me off, there's usually a lot more going on than meets the eye. I get just as frustrated when they don't play well but I don't finger point and put blame on 1 or 2 players. I'll tell you one thing that makes me happy is Kovy is vindicated from dragging down his former linemates, (pleks and AK46) both continue to suck and blow.

@33 Speak for yourself. I stick by this cardiac arrest and grey hair causing team as low as we get. Not trying to sound like I'm better than anybody just don't find the point in shitting on my team no matter how sick they make me (Breezeby excepted) when I HATE every other team in the NHL (LA Kings slightly excepted, and I'll cheer for Oilers if we're out). I'll be wearing my jersey if were 78-4 or 16-66.

Thats always been my philosophy.

@ crumbs - Porn Oregon Trail (Or Pornygon Trail) is the greatest idea ever! That game saved my life in grade eight.

@ James - I know he's tiny. But he is fearless! One Pronger $3.99 Happy Meal elbow would change everything ... but wouldn't you love the little waterbug on your team until then lol?

TIMMINS IS AWESOME BTW!!!!

Word verif: prepto

PREPTO BISMOL MUTHAFUCKA!

Fuck yeah! Dat's what I'm talkin' 'bout. I just won a fuckin' shit load on the habs here in Vegas, and it's going toward a brand new hooker!

What? Bi-polar fans for a bi-polar team eh! Now kick some fish sticks tomorrow.

And I'd nominate Breezer for the Masterton trophy for putting up with all the shit he's been through yet is still crazy dedicated to playing when they ask him to, not to mention kind of a weird room mascot to the team.

orangeman said...

Yeah, let's support the team no matter what like Leaf fans. We can buy every seat in the house every night for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Don't forget all the merchandise, too! Let's be so loyal that the owners know they don't ever actually have to spend money to produce a good product or competitive team on the ice. We'll have decades of mediocre/horrible hockey and we won't complain a bit because we'll get to see players (esp. goalies) come back to our teams in the twilight of their carrers. Oh, and don't forget the surly coaches who yell at the media for asking about the poor results and overrated GMs who use the stats on the back of '94 Topps Hockey cards to shop for players.

Yeah, let's be like Leaf fans.

South Shore Hab said...

@ Number31
Not to mention, have you ever seen the guy mail it in?
Make a bad pass or screw up on the play, maybe, but he always plays like he cares.

And to come back to the city that booed him out of town? That's dedication. I really hope there's a job as defense coach waiting for him when he retires.

Or Bulldogs coach should Lever get promoted to the bigs, actually. That might be interesting...

I'm late to the show on this one, but gotta say this re: 33's Bangwagoning comment.

I, in no fucking way, at the age of 70 in the year 2035, after 42 years without a cup want to be a Habs fan that says "Oh well, the boys played hard...better than expected...things are looking good for next year! Way to go team." FUCK. THAT. SHIT.
